Project 2- 'Chuck Close-style' Self-Portrait
My 2nd time with oils- not sure if this as an improvement or me trying for a different aesthetic, because after all, it's my face...
My Self-Portrait Journey/Process
The final result after 17hrs and 30mins over a period of 6 days...
The Critique
The Critique (Part 2)
So, unfortunately we didn't get to all the artworks in one go- my portrait and three others weren't critiqued that first day. So this is Part 2, a week later. So this is how it went after much anxiety on my end, I am relieved and somewhat proud my portrait got some of the praise that it did- 17hrs and 30 min. well spent. I'm glad my shirt, overall, read as pink even though I included many other colors, and my, 'pops of color,' were well received, both in my image and my background. I really worried about that background- didn't want it to appear as an after thought. I'm also glad my highlights read well and I liked it better from a distance. I think once I got my picture more finished, I liked it more- initially I didn't like it at all, especially the first 3 days days. Also no one really seemed to mind that I didn't really use any brown- I was worried about that too initially, because I kept mixing oranges and couldn't seem to hit on the right shade. I also got praise for not outlining, which means I need to remember to continue to not do that.
